A little table etiquette

You and North play as a team against West and East. There are 13 tricks in each hand; spades are always trump.

  1. Bid your tricks. You and your partner combine your bids. A bid of zero is nil: you promise to win none.
  2. Follow suit. Play the led suit if you have it. Otherwise, play any card. You cannot lead spades until someone has played one off suit, unless you only have spades.
  3. Highest card wins. The highest spade wins, or the highest card of the led suit if nobody played a spade.
  4. Make your contract. Earn 10 points per bid trick, plus one point per extra trick (a bag). Miss the contract and lose 10 points per bid trick.
  5. Watch the bags. Every 10 bags costs 100 points. A successful nil earns 100; a failed nil loses 100. Tricks from a failed nil count as bags, not toward your partner's contract.

The first team to the target wins after a hand, provided they have the higher score. A tie continues the game. No blind nil or passing.

AI thinks in a background worker, using its own hand and the public play history. It cannot see your cards. Read about the AI and its evaluation →

Your table

Standard is recommended. Search spends more time evaluating possible unseen hands; it has not shown a clear advantage against the external bot.
